A domain name is the URL or web address used to visit a website – mine is https://www.frankpurcell.co.za/
When a domain name is entered into a browser, a request is sent to the global Domain Name System (DNS). The DNS then searches for, and forwards the request to, the name server, which is managed by your hosting company, associated with the domain.
The name server forwards the request on to your web server, which is the computer where your website is installed.
This computer then sends your website data, such as pages, back to the user via their browser.
Please note that we currently use Elitehost (Pty) Ltd. for our Domain & Hosting services, although clients are able to use any preferred domain and hosting company, as long as they provide cPanel & Automatic WordPress Installation.
